I have to write an essay about kinetics contained in several of the lightsaber duels for my cinema history class. I’ve never seen these movies, and I watched this video and I was totally lost. I really don’t find the point to Star Wars. But nice job on the editing!

may i add that in the first movies the lightsabers where made of solid steel so they hade to use two hands

This is a small nit-pick, and it may have already been mentioned, but at the time of the (#1) duel, Anakin had become Darth Vader, so isn’t “Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Anakin Skywalker” a bit of a misnomer?

I’m glad someone recognized that the cloud city duel was better than the Death Star duel between luke and vader.

@kcbsuiejd ….but other than that all I can think of is that he was a sith. Also in the sixth movie the final battle was so amazing because you could see how Luke fought for control of his emotions until the great climax of him stating that he was a Jedi. And yes, the final battle between obi-wan and anakin in three did have plenty of emotion, but there’s no need for over the top choreography that honestly decreased all the emotion in the fight, but also anakin was a bad actor, not helping.

@kcbsuiejd Ahem……… First off, the emotion behind the fight. One thing that made the originals so great was how they had fuel for their battles, it wasn’t just because the other guys were on the dark side. For example, obi-wan vs. vader in the fourth movie was great because you could feel all the anger that vader had for obi-wan for all those years of “tricking him.” I never understood the fuel behind trying to kill darth maul. I understand that after he killed qui-gon, he could be mad…..

Might I ask, what was this list based off? Because at time I felt like you were doing ok, then at other times I felt like all you cared about was the cool choreography and flashy effects.

loved it all but this is just my personal opinion the number two should have been number one purely coz ewan and liam are such great actors. Haden is a mediocre actor and ppl didn’t notice how inexpressive he was. anyway thanks

this is a good list, but i think luke vs vader from empire strikes back should at least be number 2, and the darth maul fight should be lower, (just switch them, and its perfect)

Obi wan vs Grievous: Love the overly dramatic stance he takes lol
Obi wan vs anakin: I actually think some of the fight was improvisation, because there were many points where they went to strike but it was obvious the sabers would hit so they didn’t even make contact, they pulled away, happened many times

I would say I have to agree mostly with this except for darth maul v Ben and Anakin is the best one in the series. I would actually put the one between Anakin and Ben at like number 10. Its really not as good. Ok maybe Yoda v Dooku at 10 and Ani v Ben at 9. Good video man.

The reason the Anakin vs Obi-Wan is so epic is because they were master/apprentice. They have almost identical fighting styles here.

how to you stretch and contract the lightsaber (how do you pull the corners). I can’t find the tool for doing this… and i use after effects cs4

when you add a solid colour and then you cut it out and set the mask to feathering is that also how you make blood? btw i made a 3 min home made vid and was wondering if you wanted to check it out.i made it ages ago so its kinda rubbish but please check it out and let me know what you think
