Another track form the Early Years…This is another big band number where the singer is still regarded as an accessory. This would be 1940 and Frank was just settling in with the Tommy Dorsey Band. Frank is still learning his craft and is some years away from attaining his ‘Chairman of the Board’ and ‘ole Blue eyes’ dominance. However, he was becoming the star attraction with the ‘Bobby Sox’ generation of young women – they were becoming aware of him through radio broadcasts and were rushing out to buy his records The Bands of the Swing era were the best vehicles for an aspiring singer to use to become a star in their own right. — And it was quickly becoming a two way traffic in celebrity exchange. The Band is the Tommy Dorsey Swing Band, which was becoming a hothouse for singing talent — Having signed up Jo Stafford and the Pied Pipers,( the harmony group of which Jo was a founder member) among other top singers. In the photo of the Dorsey Band Frank is on the extreme right at the back with the rest of the band’s Singers. www.demonmusicgroup.co.uk

Can you be neutral? I mean like your a half jedi-half sith looking person and you can use all the force powers like choke & lightning for sith w/ push & mind trick for jedi.

@ThreeSixXero I believe your taking this a little too seriously. Lets get back on track. I said that people compare MMO’s to WoW because it’s the most successful. I continued to say that unless a new MMO has a decent gimmick to it and not just covering a fan base then it’s probably not going to go very far. Then you said something about success and being good. But you can’t really have one without the other. I mean you could if people don’t know about the game, but we know everyone knows.

ThreeSixXero

January 10, 2011

@Wingsabr Actually, you can. I think spamming the A button (might be the B button) or clicking (XBox and PC, respectively) passes through speech. You still have to pick your choices (which makes sense, cause they affect your gameplay) but otherwise you can pass through it fast. if you mean boring talking as in ‘quests” based on talking, Wow has plenty of those, and they’re more spread apart from their objectives than Mass Effect.

Wingsabr

January 10, 2011

@ThreeSixXero Mass Effect was ok, And yes there is talking in RPG’s but in Mass Effect you couldn’t skip most of the boring shit. So if you can’t skip talking like you can in WoW then it will be extremely boring and therefor not good. Also it’s need to be cheap enough for people to buy and enjoy the fullest.

ThreeSixXero

January 10, 2011

@Wingsabr Call of Duty…….

Anyway, Mass Effect was great. And of course there’s talking. Its a f*cking RPG. RPGs are almost all about talking (that, and walking). Mass Effect seems to balance talking and action very well for an RPG, so I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Wingsabr

January 10, 2011

@ThreeSixXero Would look at mass effect if I could get through all the talking, if this game is going to be anything like it. It’s going to fail hard. And you cant have success without it being good. I mean do bad games have great success? Just ask yourself that and come up with a serious answer.

Arnold Jorgensen-”What would we want to play? What would fans want to play?”
*notices HK-47 on the picture in the background*
Me-”A game about HK-47 and his assassinations?”

ThreeSixXero

January 11, 2011

@Wingsabr
There’s a difference between success and actually being good.

Besides, this is BioWare we’re talking about. Just look at Mass Effect.

Wingsabr

January 11, 2011

@ostrogoth182 Because out of all the MMO’s, WoW is the most successful. If they don’t live up to that then there’s no hope for it. Look at APB, severs up for one month then shut down and forgotten. This can defiantly be good as long as they get EVERYTHING perfect.

@KillaVonDilla – Sorry, don’t agree with your comment here. If it isn’t Frank Sinatra who is it? You may have listened to Frank and Tommy Dorsey on other tracks and know somehting that I don’t, but it certainly sounds like Frank to me.

He was second only to Ray Eberle with the Glenn Miller Orchestra as a band singer in my oinion.

KillaVonDilla

January 11, 2011

People people people! This is not even a young Frank Sinatra!
I don’t know who it is, but it is Not Ol’ Blue Eyes! Listen to his voice closely. Nice pix of Frank, but not him singing. That’s a fact!

OH! Frankie!………..too bad you are not with us here on Earth.

mortygwhiz

Frank said that he tried to phrase as the other instruments in the band did and that he learned from Tommy Dorsey that he needed to improve his wind so he could do that. From then on Frank always worked to stay in shape so he could sing the style he wanted to sing.

saintcruzin

January 11, 2011

I think some of these early songs fit the young Sinatra better. His persona of sweet naïve innocent Frankie go soo well with daisy and moonbeams while The Chairman could interpret more complex material. Both Sinatras are GREAT!!!

January 11, 2011

i am completely with you, most of singers of today would not even have started their carrier if they did not have the actual tecnical possibilities. i do not know if this is good or bad, but sometimes it makes music “colder”.. you do not feel and hear the soul behind. THIs stuff is true.. as you distribed it….. and they COULD sing and did know their work :) eva

odysseetheater

January 11, 2011

also would like trooper7h for this work, such treasures should be prevented and we do HAVE tecnology to do this. why not using for good things??? wonderful track and if i would not know i would not know that this is frank…. even if i am a big big sinatra fan ….. look look ….

I like Frank’s older 40′s stuff – Maybe I’m just going through a phase of not liking 50s big band

sandiegoryu

January 11, 2011

This is early Frank Sinatra? Wow. That’s cool to listen to :P . Sounds completely different.

VivaLaTrumpet

January 11, 2011

I like his younger singing style as well as Frank’s more signature famous voice.

Thank you for your kind, uplifting letter. It makes me feel just great knowing that someone else appreciates those old performances.

January 11, 2011

Wow I had never thought of your insightful comment. I’m a professional in the business and today we needn’t worry about the timeline. The older recordings had to keep eveyone on their toes, and as a result, better. You were so right, thank you!

ASeasonedWitch

“Imagination is funny . . It makes a cloudy day sunny . . . Makes a bee think of honey just as I think of you!”

Great lyrics, great tune, great swing!

tfb00073

January 11, 2011

Thank goodness they didn’t have technology like we have today for recordngs. The recordings at tht time were done from beginning to end without pause. If someone made a flaw whether the vocalist or one of the musicianbs they would have to start all over until they got right. So these old recording of the 30s and 40s and maybe into the early 50s are real time sessions. What a treasure these od records are.

before he became the chairman. but tommy taught frank about holding a note like the trombone note. seemed to work out nice

ddkoda

The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing as smooth as silk and Frank Sinatra to sing the story of the song. It doesn’t get any better.
