My son was very disappointed in this light saber – it’s not spring open at the push of a switch like the others, and the color barely shows at all – it would have to be pitch dark to glow green or red, otherwise it’s just a cheap clear light saber. It makes noise, but only if you push a button on the side which is not easy to find when using it as a light saber – the big push button merely opens the sith spikes which are no big deal and seem pretty cheaply made. The force action light sabers are much better than this one and seem to be of a better quality than this one.

I bought this for my son’s 7th birthday. As far as he is concerned, it is the real thing…just like Luke or Darth would use. He loves it!

(Note: This review is from my son.)

I excitedly ripped the paper out of the box the UPS man had just brought and reached in to pull out my new Force Unleashed Lightsaber. The box had a few dents on it which was confusing because I had bought it new from amazon but I was to thrilled to dwell on the small problems. I slid in the three AA-Bateries and ignited the blade with a hiss. (The ignition button was also pushed in to the hilt and couldn’t come out. It could still turn on through so I ignored it also). I shot out the spikes and ran around the house acting out my Sith fantasies. I went out side to lightsaber battle with the neighbor kids when the strangest thing happened. After 20 seconds and my lightsaber blade (not the hilt) hit only once, the spikes wouldn’t retract! I was furious and sad so now I am sitting here typing it out to you. If you want this for any other reason than to put it up in a display case I advise against buying it. It is the most fragile lightsaber I have ever used. It looks a lot cooler in the commercials and in the pictures that you’ll find online then in real life.

Thanks for reading,

I hope my review will help you in your purchase.

Construction of this lightsaber is solid. The only way you can extend the saber is by swinging your arm. It is the only one not actuated by a button. The button activates the spikes which changes the color of the blade from red to green. A separate (inconspicuous and not so obvious) button turns on the sword. The sound effects and action of the saber is good.

Regarding safety the sword will not injury anyone but be careful of the spikes, it could poke someone in the eye (user or an unsuspecting bystander).

Pros:

Color change

Sound effects

Handle guard

Cons:

No actuator to extend the saber

This is a good sword despite the limitations.
