Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace Part 1 *DVD QUALITY (HQ)

By Top Star Wars Toys, May 15, 2010 Star Wars Videos

Note- This film belongs to LucasFilm Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is a 1999 space opera film written and directed by George Lucas. It was the fourth film to be released in the Star Wars saga and the first in terms of internal chronology. The film follows Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who flee the planet Naboo with Queen Amidala in the hope of finding a peaceful end to a trade dispute. Along the way, the ship must stop for repairs on the planet Tatooine, where the Jedi encounter Anakin Skywalker, a young slave boy who is unusually strong with the Force. Meanwhile, they must contend with the mysterious return of the Sith. Lucas began production when he felt special effects had advanced to the level of what he had envisioned for the film. Shooting took place during 1997 at various locations including Leavesden Film Studios and the Tunisian desert. Special effects made extensive use of computer-generated imagery, with some characters and scenarios being completely digital. The Phantom Menace was released in May 19, 1999, almost sixteen years after the previous film in the series, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and was accompanied by extensive media coverage and great anticipation. Despite mixed reviews by critics, who praised the visuals and action scenes but criticized the writing, characterization and acting, it grossed $924.3 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Star Wars film and the 9th highest-grossing film of all time

This is one of the greatest disasters in film history. Not only is it horribly bad on its own, but it is also a slap in the face of everyone who had fond memories of the original trilogy. No story, no characters, no emotion, no humour, no sense. One has to be one of those droids to watch this, as every bit of humanity has been sucked out of this PIECE OF STINKING SHIT!

@The5thSnow and its a bad movie cause it makes no sense, thousands of plot holes, 1 dimensional cardboard characters, bad acting (probably because of bad characters) and all emotion thrown away in place of very artificial CG effects

It’s a good movie because there aren’t as many dark overtones as with the others. The Emperior is just a lowly senator, Vador is just a child and the Republic and Jedi are flurishing, not in the middle of a war or a corrupt empire.

I really like Episode I -it’s far from Episode IV and VI (but I like the old saga), far from Vader, Emperor and Death Star, as well as the Empire and wampas from Hoth. Sometimes it seems these movies are separate stories… But actually it’s like in real life: You never know what consequencies your actions can bring in the future. In this small video it’s so pleasant to see Amidala, Nute Gunray, Naboo and many other characters and things, that are completely unaware of dark times soon to come…

I enjoyed this movie when I was 7. Either I was an extremely boring child, or this movie isn’t as bad as everyone thinks it is.

@picknana its more of the fact that its different

its only getting flak because all the fanboys are a little rattled that its more political and focused on big robot battles, rather than the norm of the older films

Looking back, If Qui-Gon had survived, the fall of the republic may have never occurred. He would’ve exposed Sidious, and, perhaps, kept Anakin from the dark side. It’s not to undermine Obi-Wan’s training, his only downfall was the unfallible alligiance to the order. Qui-Gon would’ve taken matters into his own hands to expose the Sith.

As to why the Jedi held their breath instead of using the devices later seen when they swim to the Gungan city, we can assume that “dioxis”, although we don’t have it on earth, is familiar to both Jedi based on their reactions. They knew it was fast acting, so the viceroy wouldn’t wait long to send in troops or open the doors to clean up the mess. Additionally, the Jedi weren’t dumb; if at any point they’d needed the breathing devices, I’m sure they would have inserted them.

Obi-Wan might also have considered the running start valuable, as it would built up his adrenaline and energy before he leapt back into the fray.

Lucas wanted to clearly show Jedi powers in this action scene. That’s why we see them using a lot of tricks– pushing the droids over without touching them and running so quickly they might appear to teleport. It’s interesting to speculate as to why Obi-Wan didn’t reuse this ability when trying to join Qui-Gon after they were separated during the final duel. He must have thought he didn’t need it since Qui-Gon was doing OK up until the end and no one knew of the energy doors until they closed.

@Yoda366

Must have been a strong gas. I’m thinking that without the Force, the Jedi wouldn’t have known what it was and would have been overcome by it as soon it hit them. The viceroy, not knowing Jedi very well, didn’t know they’d be able to sense they were in mortal danger and prepare before the gas got to them.

@tristramshandy3

Comparing the viceroy, etc., to how *real* oriental people speak, there really isn’t much similarity. As for Jar Jar’s “ebonics”, look, I don’t like the fart jokes either, but all I hear is a high-pitched cartoon voice. (Well, the voice actor is African-American, so I guess maybe his natural voice mixed a little with how Lucas wanted the character played.

@jazzythegreatest

Of course it could be that Obi-Wan is exceptional, rather than Qui-Gon begin unusually weak. Everything said about Qui-Gon throughout the movie suggests he’s actually pretty good.

No matter how good the prequels would’ve been people had hated it.
I think they are good movies and most of the people I heard who went to watch these movies liked it, and also young people that does not think in black and white like many of you people do love these movies.
