Screw the Empire. Lets go Alliance

in the mid 90s they updated the films with some CGI elements. And cleaned alot of the frames up, the matte transitions look less fake in the updated versions for example. But overall alot of whats on screen is original

2:22 the lone AT-ST…why couldnt there be more AT-STs?!
May 15, 2010
@FiverBeyond Yeah man, it holds up even now, which just says so much about the fantastic job they did back then. They’ve just got lazy with the prequels, dialing it all into a computer. The originals prove that while models may seem time consuimg and basic, they still produce awesome looking battle scenes like this.

I saw one of the snow speeders at universal studios about 15 yrs ago,, they were made out of plywood.

@mitrooper In the star wars universe Blasters and lasers are two different weapons classes, Lasers being the heavier ship-mounted version. Blasters tend to fill the role of pistols, rifles and machine guns. Then there’s the Turbolaser which is similar to a modern navy cannon.
May 15, 2010
@skegpit Lol, the Snowspeeders do have laser cannons. There are a number of shots during the battle where you can see snowspeeders clearly firing on the walkers, even Luke says that the armor walkers is too strong for blasters aka lasers.

@potawatadingdong Cause they aim at the neck when its down. In Battlefront 2 you can destroy an AT-AT with A Rocket Launcher if you aim at its neck. Its supposed to be the biggest vulnerable part or something

@amorphousguy They used physical models while prequel battles are all CGI.

general veers is a great strategy designer!

Why aren’t the Alliance air-speeders outfitted with Laser cannons like thier star-fighters are? If it can punch through a Star-destroyer’s armour then it should make light work of an AT-AT. That’s like saying Tanks have superior armour to Battleships.

my kids arent gonna watch the prequels or that joke of a cartoon thats on now.

this is my favorite scene of all time from Star Wars, but I never understand why the blasters dont do anything. Then when the AT-AT falls over, the blaster destroy it? It doesnt make any sense, but its still my favorite scene.

I remember being shocked when I watched Blade Runner. It looked so much better than the latest movies… I had to double check to see when it was made.

@YesWeCantaloupe Considering Mark Hamill had to get to the glacier location in the engine compartment of a slow plough, I can’t begin to imagine the logistics of 9,000 extras in that environment…

@darthbandon10
Yeah! Just like Spartacus, or Lawrence of Arabia, or the Ten Commandments. I’m sure George could afford it after the success of the first one.
May 15, 2010
@YesWeCantaloupe Did you expect 9,000 extras to appear on screen?
