I’m talking about the (really) BIG Corellian ships now. When the OTC Millenium Falcon came out in 2003 which was retooled from the original vintage Kenner mold I only dreamed of having a larger scale Falcon and Hasbro responded, though as impressive looking as the new larger scale Falcon is, it is only frustratingly as cool as it should have been. Like Han’s beloved ship, this bucket of bolts is always falling apart.

The Pros: IT’S MASSIVELY HUGE! Probably the biggest and best scaled Star Wars vehicle ever made and it’s the next best thing to owning the bank-breaking Master Replicas Studio Scale prop replica costing thousands more. The cockpit now accommodates up to 4 action figures and illuminates when one of 3 different buttons are pressed that make the “hyperdrive,” “liftoff” and “flyby” sounds while the hyperdrive glows a cool blue hue. The interior playset areas have been expanded to include a medical bay to recreate Luke’s rescue from Cloud City. The landing ramp deploys with the touch of a button and slowly descends while making hydraulic sounds. The holochess table illuminates when one of 3 buttons are pressed with over 20 sounds and phrases from “A New Hope” including lines like “Let the Wookie win.”

The Cons: The landing gear absolutely suck! They do not stay on at all. I tried every combination I could by carefully aligning the shapes with the groves and none of them would stay on and easily fall over. As Luke would say, “What a piece of junk!” I am probably going to permanently glue them on though I am hesitant to ruin such a relatively expensive collectible. Also, the plastic material is made out of that awful soft rubbery plastic that Hasbro has been using on everything it has been producing for the last few years for child safety reasons. It feels horribly cheap for a $150 toy that should have used a hard durable plastic in the overall construction. They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to. I would still like to have seen the cockpit and the adjacent corridor connect via an opening hatch and there’s still only 1 gunner station instead of 2 like in the film for both top and bottom gun turrets which fire two spring-loaded projectile missiles. I’d rather the cannon barrels illuminated with strobbing lights and recoiled like in the film. There’s an escape pod vehicle that deploys which is completely made-up. Supposedly the original designer of the Kenner Millenium Falcon wanted to include this feature in the vintage design. Kids may like it but I don’t particularly care for it at all. It’s already been done before on Padme’s Naboo Royal Cruiser. I’d rather they used this area for another omitted movie feature like the topside elevator lift Lando used to rescue Luke from Cloud City.

Overall this hunk of junk is enormously impressive looking, but doesn’t quite feel worth $150. Perhaps around an even $100 would have felt about right on the mark so don’t judge it by its size alone. There were some missed opportunities to make this the truly definitive version of the Millenium Falcon. I’d try to pick this one up on sale, or if your lucky to win it in a chance card game of Sabaac. This baby’s still got a few surprises left in her sweetheart.

Make no mistake about it, this is the best Millennium Falcon for 3.5 figures ever. The Falcon is HUGE, and the detail is incredible. Probably the best Star Wars 3.5 figure vehicle ever made.

I like it because it looks great on my desk; a great nod to my childhood memories. However, as a toy for a child, it’s probably not so good. Frankly as its quite big, and I think would be hard to hold for them to run around the house holding it to make it “fly”.

Again, it’s HUGE, and the small detailed pieces can be broken easily, such as the chairs in the cockpit, and the landing gear.

So, if you are looking for an incredible Falcon reproduction for 3.5 figures, it’s a no-brainer and worth the high price in my opinion. If it is for a child to be used as a toy (as intended) be prepared for broken and missing pieces.

Ok … this was way too much money to spend on a toy but I remenber how much I loved the millennium falcon as a kid. I got in when out of town and you should have seen the looks I got from some of the kids when I was halling this huge thing through the airport. Some of the dads too.

My son loves playing with this toy. It has become the stage for all his star wars play. The sounds and lights are a nice touch. There is a lot of areas to explore.

One problem is the bottom landing gear don’t stay on. I suggest tossing them. It works fine without them.

All in all, great toy if you want spoil your kid a little.

The other writers were underemphasizing the flaws in the design of what should have been a great toy. I looked at the negative problems with their reviews, and thought, “It can’t be as bad as all that.”

Oh yes it is.

The infamous landing gear legs do not fit properly, making it impossible to use them.

The plastic is butter-soft, and the pegs that hold the cockpit canopy into the slots came so badly bent inwards that the canopy would not go on or stay on. The enclosed figures do not fit easily into the cockpit or onto the standing pegs. The smuggler plates in the floor do not fit in correctly, causing them to bulge upwards. The laser cannon seat does not allow Captain Solo very easy access.

Conceptually, this toy is very well designed. I have no doubt that it looked great on paper and that the model that was shown to the execs looked great… probably because it was made of better materials than this one. It’s the mass-production execution that sinks this. The lighting and effects are great. The same can be said for the way some of the pieces move. Nevertheless, if the MAJOR elements don’t work properly, it’s hard to enjoy the cool details.

If you’re looking to have a second childhood with this, you’ll only walk away with a bitter feeling of “it ain’t like it used to be.” If you buy this for a kid, the kid will expect the major elements to work, and the gift-giving will devolve into “a learning experience” about declining standards of mass production or something. One way or the other, the kid’s gonna be really let down. With a toy this expensive, several other, smaller toys, that WOULD have worked, will probably have been skipped over.

Given that this simply DOES NOT WORK, I could not recommend it at any price. Certainly not this one.

This is, without a doubt, the coolest Star Wars toy Hasbro has EVER created. It’s huge, detailed, in good scale with the figures. I know $150 seems like a lot for a toy, but once you see this, you’ll agree it’s worth it.

Coolest feature, the boarding ramp. If you had the old Falcon, this will make you squeal with delight when you see it.

My ONLY complaints are these.

The landing gear is, as C3PO would say, “not entirely stable”. And for $150, can we PLEASE not have to apply stickers? Hasbro, there has got to be someone you could pay to do this. As usual, a couple of my stickers ended up slightly skewed…and (even worse) I ended up scratching the cockpit canopy with the X-acto knife I was using to get the stupid stickers wedged into the areas my fingers couldn’t fit into. Now, every time I look at my pretty new toy all I see is that darn scratch. Is there a place I can go to get a replacement canopy?

Overall though, this is a GREAT toy. If you’re a fan, and have space for this gargantuan thing, BUY IT!!!
