Well, it broke within five minutes of my kid receiving it. The nesting “mechanism” that is required to extend and collapse the saber part broke with what I would call “normal” play for a 3 year old, (ie nothing very rough). So, now I have the hilt and all the segments of the light saber, albeit they are all separate pieces and hence the toy is useless. That being said, we have other lightsabers of similar build and they have withstood some serious Jedi action, so I guess it is hit or miss with the quality. If you have low expectations, you should be OK.

We’ve gone through a lot of lightsaber toys with two young Star Wars fanatics in the house, and most of the saber toys are still around in some form or another — duct-taped, maybe, and no longer lighting up, but functional enough for the constant battles against space monsters who frequent our neighborhood. This lightsaber, from that annoying Ahsoka character in the annoying Clone Wars cartoons, literally fell apart within minutes of opening the package. It never lit up at all, and the whole thing was as flimsy and disposable as the cheap packaging.

I know these are just cheap-o costume props, but if they fall apart the minute the kid touches it, that’s not so great a costume prop. Skip it. If your child wants to be Ahsoka — and really, it’s a lame character — you must use Jedi mind tricks to convince the kid that Master Yoda *insisted* on an indestructible non-light-up $[...] Mace Windu lightsaber. Seriously, those $[...] ones can be dropped on a highway from space and still kind of function.

Flimsy. The blade won’t stay in the handle, although unlike some of these other folks, I didn’t have the problem of the blade sections coming apart. The hilt itself is very fragile– like a paper towel tube made of plastic– and is oversize for a kid’s hands. I bought this with low expectations. I love lightsabers and I didn’t have a hilt in this style, so I thought I’d try it. I believe I’ll try to reinforce the blade in some way and glue it into the hilt. That sould yield an acceptable result.

Wish the grandparents had read the reviews before buying this junky toy. Like most of the other reviewers said, this toy broke within 15 minutes of use by our 8-year old daughter. The tip of the telescoping blade keeps dropping down inside the handle. Dad took it apart twice, but the plastic holding the screws stripped after the second repair. We have at least half a dozen other lightsabers in the house (from $5 “cheap” to $40-50 nicer models) and they’ve all been much better quality. Yes, this was inexpensive, but even so it shouldn’t immediately break. Girls should get Star Wars toys, too!

Like a previous review, the toy lasted about 3 minutes in the hands of a 2 year old. This product is made of a cheap plastic and is poorly constructed. The housing is not held together very well and the saber portion disconnected from the handle. I was able to open it up and place the pieces back into the housing, but it has happened 2 other times. Unfortunately this product is not worth the money.
