The Star Wars saga will at long last be released in a high-definition home video format as all six movies come to Blu-Ray in a Box Set in Fall 2011, as announced by George Lucas this morning at Celebration V. At the fan convention’s Main Event, thousands of Star Wars fans braved the muggy heat of an Orlando morning to queue for a one-time only stage session between George Lucas and The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart. Stewart asked Lucas questions submitted from the fan community, and one of the most frequently asked questions submitted online prior to the Main Event was about the saga’s release on Blu-Ray. “I wish I could say it was coming out this year,” said Lucas, “but it will come out next year.” The set will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films, with the highest picture and audio quality, along with extensive special features. Star Wars fans were treated to a glimpse of bonus material, in the form of a long-lost deleted scene from Return of the Jedi. The scene has long been talked about online — a sequence that depicts Luke Skywalker assembling his new, green-bladed lightsaber prior to infiltrating Jabba the Hutt’s palace. After completing the Jedi weapon, Luke stashes it in R2-D2′s dome. What makes the Jedi deleted clip so remarkable is that it made it all the way to postproduction before it was cut, so it is a rare example of a cut scene with completed visual effects and music. Actor Mark Hamill came out to describe the scene, remarking that once again

@Darthrotvic I like elements of them. Ep1 has a cool opening sequence on the droid ship. The end lightsaber fight is truly outstanding and I believe it will hold up for years to come. In Ep2 I like both of the bounty hunter chases, the locations like Naboo and Tatooine, Obi Wan vs Jango and some parts of the end lightsaber fights. I liked some of Ep3, bits of both end lightsaber fights, watching Anakin getting sliced, diced and dry-roasted, Vader in the suit, the Death Star, the ending.

@Shodan1440255 Yes. So, do you like the prequels too?

Shodan1440255

June 30, 2011

@Darthrotvic Yes. Star Wars is the greatest saga in the universe! : D

Darthrotvic

June 30, 2011

@Shodan1440255 I agree that the originals are the best, but the prequels are awesome as well. After all, the prequels are Star Wars and this saga is the best of the universe.

@Darthrotvic You are wrong. Maybe once you’ve grown up you can watch the prequels again and tell me that they really are great movies. In the meantime, my thoughts on the prequels when compared with the originals… Bollocks!

Darthrotvic

June 30, 2011

@Shodan1440255 I think you are the one who doesnt understand what great movies mean!!

Shodan1440255

June 30, 2011

@Darthrotvic If you honestly think the prequels were great films and worthy of a mention in the same sentence as the originals, then it is you who knows nothing about movies lol.
In all seriousness, I don’t mean any offence, just my opinion.

No, no… I´ve already seen Awake and Jumper and the “acting” of Mr. Christensen is plain and souless.

I live in a pretend world where there were no prequels.

@intheTea04 The problem with the prequels wasn’t Hayden Christensen and I’m tired of people blaming him. It was George Lucas’s poor ability to write dialogue. You could put any actor in as Anakin and people would still bitch about the supposedly bad acting.

@JONIMASAKIS So what??? It ain’t wrong trying to improve over and over again your mastership, specially if it has the cult status that it has very well earned… In my opinion, if he modiffies its movies 50 times more, then it’s worth to watch them 50 times more ir you’re truly a fan…

i wonder if the orignal format of episodes 4,5, and 6 will be in this blu ray. i really don’t care for the special edition (i fucking hate them). anybody with knowledge of the up incoming release let me know. is lucas films going to release the discs in its orignal form.

The problem with the prequel trilogy is that Hayden Christensen is a poor actor. Lucas went for a pretty boy instead of someone who could portray the necessary qualities of a future Darth Vader – and also be pleasing on the eye (for the ladies I suppose). If Christian Bale had been 10 years younger, he would’ve made an awesome Anakin Skywalker. Oh well.

Anakin Never ever should have killed younglings (Children) I don’t care how Bad A** you are.
Episodes II & III dwelt to much on how Anakin was turning to the dark side.
Episode II should have been more about how Anakin & OBI Won were good friends,
Episode III alone should have shown the breakup and the Clone Wars.
Oh well Star wars is still Star Wars like it or not. We’ll until Lucas changes it again!
