look, im a 13 year old kid. and even i know that the original trilogy makes the newer ones look like shit. i mean, in this movie, the lightsabers are not overused, and the duels have meaning and story behind them. you get a sense that luke has some emotion towards vader and its not just having loads of shitty effects crammed into one frame like they do with the newer trilogy. i count rant for hours on end on how the new trilogy is a lifeless, emotionless, robotic universe but i rest my case.
Luke vs Vader – Empire Strikes Back Lightsaber Duel
Â
I just got the feeling to upload this classic fight scene from one of my favorite movies tonight. Enjoy everyone! Disclaimer: I do not own anything Star Wars related.

There is one thing that is awesome in all the Star Wars movies, even the prequels, and that’s sound design. Few movies even come close, and this duel showcases some of the best sound effects ever heard. For example, when Vader first takes out his sword, notice how the humming gets intense… absolute genius.

@CountArtha Well we can all breathe and talk at the same time, except Vader’s breathing is audible

that thing they fight on at the end seems to have no purpose other than to be something two Jedi should fight on.

@Machdude Makes sence.

His body can’t keep up with it. Remember that he is using cybernetic implants that supplement his body rather than a fully mechanical one like Grievous. The build on him makes him MUCH slower and MUCH less articulate but also makes him stronger. This makes it more ideal for him to have just one lightsaber, he can focus his power into single hits and deal much more damage than he normally would.

I remember when I was 7 years old I memorized all the fight scenes from Episodes I to VI; til this day I know ‘em like I know the back of my hand.

@Fritz197139 There is honor in fighting. No backstabs like Hollywood movies I know!

what i like about this scene is that nobody doulble weilds anything…luke knows how to use a blaster and he even has one on him and yet he never thinks to block with the saber and shoot with his other hand lol. I even watched it twice to make sure XD. he could`ve shot vader while vader was throwing objects at him telekineticly
or after he kicked vader off the platform…

Man,Luke’s had a rough day
1.His friend Han was frozen in carbonite
2.He fell into a trap
3.Got amputated and beat up by Vader
4. Cope with the fact that Vader is his daddy
5.He lost his dad’s lightsaber and (previously mentioned) his hand.
6.Didn’t help his friends,instead they helped him
7.Dangled on a weather vane for a few freaking minutes

@TheStandofTheLastGuy “Spine chilling, isn’t it?”

You know what i wonder…if Darth can do that much with his force, why dosnt he have a X style lightsaber with 4..”blades” and have them spin so they become balls of pure energy and just have them destroy anything in their path.

Luke: Aaack! It’s in my face! Get it away get it away get it away!
Also, pause it at 5:10 and look at Luke’s face.

Without a doubt, this is the best lightsaber duel of the entire series. There aren’t any flowery virtuosos or acrobatics. The entire fight scene is just raw, and brutal and faced with temptation or oblivion our young hero chooses the latter, simply great.

why would you end it where you did? I mean i understand you wanted the lightsaber duel but if you were willing to open with just dialogue you should’ve been MORE than willing to finish with arguably the most famous line in Star Wars history.

@GibsonX That’s one old light saber
