@jhartshill Seriously. a PADAWAN would have lasted longer. and i thought darth sidious was gonna blast mace out through the window in,what,like,.a sec? an hour,more like it. after a few seconds of that last force lightning shock,a 3yearold could tell windu was going for a dip to get some air.. no surprise on that alternative whatsoever.. -.-

@Brady2k10 you’re forgetting one reason why Yoda ran. He was on his own against Sidious. Sidious wasn’t on his own: hundreds of clone troops were rushing to the defence of the emperor and therefore Yoda’s time had simply run out. If he’d hung around he would not only have had to fight the emperor but simultaneously avoid fire from hundreds of lasers.

@Brady2k10 you’re missing the point. The point isn’t that Sidious isn’t more powerful than all but 1 or 2 jedi. He is. The point is that Lucas couldve done a much better job of making that point in the films. Yoda+Windu at least put up a bit of a fight, with Windu beating him and Yoda forcing a draw. I’d have liked to have seen the other jedi at least survive longer than 2 secs. Two of them in this scene looked half asleep and they’d lotsa time after he drew the lightsabre to defend themselves.

@Brady2k10 but they weren’t padawans or young jedi: they were all jedi masters, the very elite of the jedi order, the top 2%. Three of the four were on the Jedi High Council, the top twelve of the jedi order.

in response to all u saying the jedi died too easy, darth sidious could have killed mace windu just as easy with the force, hell even yoda ran from sidious and thats saying something, so thats that settled, sidious is by far better than mace, the two jedi and yoda at using the force, hes better than them probably put together, hes gd at lightsaber combat, but hes best when using the force, so yoda going into exile cos he failed to beat sidious = sidious bad ass u dont wanna fck with

@jhartshill your wrong, a darth vs two young jedi and a jedi master, of course the young jedis or padawans are gonna get it, darth sidious was just playing with mace windu, he could have killed him but he wanted anakin to step in and become his new apprentice, at the end he goes “unlimited power” but to anakin hes all like “i i i cant hold it much longer” haha great actor

This fight is really bad. It is almost as boring as Ben Kenobi vs Vader was.

while mace may be a slightly better swordsman then Sidious i think Sidious is 4x better with the force. Mace never really had a chance

@leauxbert the “Palpatine paralysing them with a force scream” explanation works just fine in a book but it doesn’t translate at all to the big screen, so the scene is badly done. Remember, lots of people, probably the vast majority, who watch the films will never read any of the books.

@Amibop yes and in this fight he lasts about as long as my granny would’ve done. So the effect is not to make sidious look like a mighty fighter but just to make the Jedi appear worthless opponents who could have been beaten by anyone. The intended point is lost.

@Thewiseman3 It’s likely due to their training. A lot of the more popular lightsaber forms had high stances (namely forms IV and V) as their default stance.
